Industry representatives attend careers event at CAFRE Enniskillen Campus
Students welcomed Councillor Thomas O’Reilly, Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Noel Lavery, Permanent Secretary at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Noel Lavery opened the careers exhibition where students met industry representatives and were able to discuss their own career path and what the industry looks for in a good employee.
Final year students had the opportunity to take part in mock interviews with some of the top names in the industry and receive invaluable feedback which will surely benefit them in their future careers. A panel discussion followed. Panellists were Damian McDonald, Horse Sport Ireland, Martin Payne, AWCF Farrier, Kate O’Sullivan, Horse Racing Ireland, Declan McArdle, Teagasc and Leanne O’Sullivan, Enniskillen Graduate and Irish Field Intern all offering invaluable advice to the students who listened with great interest.

Hide AdA live twitter session occurred in conjunction with the panel discussion allowing students, staff and industry along with a number of past students now working in America, Australia and New Zealand to get involved in the debate. Ten eagerly anticipated Bursary awards were then presented to the Higher Education students who had excelled in their assignments.
Enniskillen Campus places great importance on preparing equine students for their future career of choice. The students valued their contact with each of the professionals that attended their seminar and concluded with a rousing vote of thanks from the students led by Jessica Finnegan, Student President.
